Not many got them right! We have until March to learn the facts on the various candidates and what their values are. If you care enough to go out and cast your vote, you need to find out how the candidates rate. There are many Republican candidates in the running; however, the following is a list of those candidates that scored well in the Rasmussen Poll, Aug. 07. The Rasmussen Report was the nation’s most accurate polling firm during the 2004 presidential election. THE NAMES & BIO’S ARE IN NO PARTICULAR ORDER………. *Fred Thompson, former Senator from Tennessee. Some say he does not fit the Conservative mold. He has made statements in the past in support of abortion rights. James Dobson of Focus on the Family is not impressed with Thompson and officially opposed him. Christian Conservatives backed his primary opponent when he first ran for Senate in 1994. He also backed McCain’s landmark campaign finance reform bill, which many Conservatives vehemently opposed as it has been viewed as legislation to restrict or silence Conservatives and Christians. He also acknowledged having a spirited dating life between his first and second marriage. He stated, “I’m for adult stem cell research, not stem cell research where embryos of unborn children are destroyed. There is promising development with adult stem cells; we don’t need to go down that other road. He voted to Oppose Roe v Wade. “I think Roe v Wade was bad law and bad medical science. And the way to address that is through good judges. He also voted for the Partial-birth Abortion Ban Act. He stated, “The Supreme Court was absolutely right in the Gonzales v Carhart, partial-birth abortion decision. The very idea that we could have a debate over whether or not that atrocious activity should be allowable is very unfortunate.” * Mike Huckabee, Governor of Arkansas, is known as a Conservative Christian. Many generally say that Huckabee would be excellent on crucial issues such as marriage, abortion and support for effective compassion both at home and in Africa. He also won the Values Voters Presidential Debate hands down. Even Bill Clinton says he is the guy to watch. Clinton stated, “He, (Mike Huckabee), is the ‘only dark horse’ that’s got any kind of chance…He’s the best speaker they’ve got.” Even Newt Gingrich said that “If Huckabee can find the money to finance his campaign, he will be dramatically competitive almost overnight. Some are saying “it’s all or nothing: It’s Huckabee or it’s Hilliary. Those same people are saying the end to abortion on demand is within our grasp; so is the annihilation of every advance we have ever made. Regarding Stem Cell research, Huckabee stated, “I don’t think its right to create a life to end a life. That’s not a good health decision.” He also states, “my conviction regarding the sanctity of life has always been clean and consistent, without equivocation or wavering. I believe that Roe v Wade should be over-turned.” Huckabee signed the Arkansas Partial-Birth Abortion Ban Act into law. He applauds the Supreme Courts action of Gonzales v Carhart, which also sends a strong reminder that we must stay vigilant in our cause to protect those who cannot protect themselves.” * Mitt Romney, former Governor of Massachusetts, has an eight-year record of siding with the liberal pro gay agenda. Regarding Stem Cell research, he states, “I will not create new embryos through cloning or through embryo farming because that would be creating life for the purpose of destroying it.” However, “Some stem cells today are obtained from surplus embryos from in-vitro fertilization. I support that research.” As far as Roe v Wade, he stated, “I do believe that Roe v Wade does not serve the country well. I would like to see the Court return the issue to the people to decide.” And regarding Partial-birth abortion, he states, “The Court in Gonzales v Carhart reaffirmed the value of life in America by upholding a ban on a practice that offends basic human decency. It represents a step forward in protecting the weakest and most innocent among us.” *John McCain, Senator from Arizona, the Liberal Republican who Flip Flops on Gay marriage. McCain does not like fundamental Christians. He says Jerry Falwell and Pat Roberson are ‘agents of intolerance.” He is trying to flip-flop his way into the hearts of Conservatives everywhere. Regarding Stem Cell Research, McCain voted in favor of funding research that requires killing human embryos. He stated, “I do support embryonic stem cell research and I believe that we need to fund the research.” He also voted to oppose Roe v Wade stating, “We would be better off by having Roe v Wade return to the states. I don’t believe the Court should be legislating in the way that they did on Roe v Wade.” He voted for the Partial-Birth Abortion Ban Act. He said regarding the Supreme Courts ruling in Gonzales v Carhart, “it is a victory for those who cherish the sanctity of human life.” *Rudy Gillian, former New York City Mayor. He is so liberal on the gay issue, he should consider being a Democrat! He cannot hide his support for keeping abortion legal behind appealing rhetoric. This is a candidate who said favoring abortion is consistent with the philosophy of the Republican Party, who has supported partial-birth abortion and taxpayer-funded abortion, who gave money to Planned Parenthood and who said he would vote against parental-notice laws. Regarding stem cell research, he stated, “As long as we are not creating life in order to destroy it, as long as we are not having human cloning, I would support embryonic stem cell research with those limitation. Regarding Roe v Wade, Giuliani states, “the present state of the law on these issues is not something that I would seek to change.” Since it is an issue of conscience, I would respect a woman’s right to make a different choice.” Giuliani states, “I support the ban on Partial-birth abortion – but ultimately I think that when you come down to that choice, you have to respect a woman’s right to make that choice differently than my conscience” Pro-lifers should NOT support Giuliani! *Sam Brownback, Senator from Kansas, is a strong Conservative on pro-life and moral issues. Because Senator Brownback is known as one of the Senate’s strongest advocates of Amnesty and acceptance of illegal immigration, he has failed to gain the support of Conservatives. He voted against the funding of stem cell research that requires killing human embryos. He states, “ I oppose destructive embryonic stem cell research because it results in the untimely termination of a young human life.” He also voted to oppose Roe v Wade. “The day Roe v Wade is repealed would be a glorious day of human liberty and freedom. Brownback voted for the Partial-Birth Abortion Ban Act. He states, “the Court decision Gonzales v Carhart is a giant step forward for our nation’s citizens, born and unborn.” WHERE DO THE DEMOCRATS STAND ON LIFE Issues?? To be continued…….Hilliary Clinton, Barack Obama, John Edwards and Bill Richards are the Democratic candidates that scored well in the Rasmussen Poll, Aug. 07. We will discuss how they stand on Stem Cell Research, Roe v Wade and Partial-Birth Abortion Ban Act in the November 2007 Newsletter Issue. Stay tune……
**Also in the November Newsletter, information will be printed on our local Send-off Rally, January 21, 2008, the National RTL March in Washington, D.C on the 22nd as well as the D.C. March form. Planned Parenthood funded by YOUR tax $$$$. According to recent reports, Planned Parenthood performs almost 250,000 horrific abortion procedures a year. Our tax $$$’s are helping to fund their booming business. The federal government hands over millions of dollars to Planned Parenthood under the guise of Title X Funding – which provides an enormous influx of money for “reproductive health activities”. Planned Parenthood has been funding its operation of more than $500 million in the last two years alone with taxpayer’s money. And federal funding of Planned Parenthood through the Title X account is being increased by another $28 million! Republican Hog Roast, will be held on Sunday, October 28th, at the Celina American Legion Hall. The doors open at 4:00PM; a complimentary dinner will be served before Guest Speaker, Mary Taylor, State Auditor talks at approx. 5:00PM.
