RTL has a reputation in the state as a ‘strong Chapter’ and I believe there is every reason it will continue to be ‘strong’. MARCH FOR LIFE 2004January 22nd, 2004 will mark the 31st Anniversary of Roe vs. Wade Supreme Court decision legalizing abortion on demand. Since 1973, over 43 million babies have died from abortion. Every day, nearly 4,000 more are killed. Most individuals under the age of 30 have never known a day without legal abortion. It’s been too long. It’s time for a change! According to Gary Borger, Coldwater 678-8538 and Dave Kaiser, St. Henry 678-2569, March Coordinators, two buses have been reserved and are beginning to fill up. If you are interested in making the trip to our nations capital with the group from Mercer County, give either Gary or Dave a call. Fill out the registration form found in the November Newsletter and return it to Gary Borger, 806 S. Dogwood Dr., Coldwater, OH 45828 before January 1, 2004 in order to reserve a seat. More forms are available if you need one. Payment can be made at a later date. The cost for the trip & breakfast is actually less than it has been in the last two years, because we are going with a local bus firm. The cost: $80.00 for adults and $65.00 for students. Buses will depart from the New Life Christian Center on Havemann Rd. in Celina following the local Send-Off Rally, approx. 8:00PM. The plans are to travel through the night, arriving in D.C. in time to attend the 9:00AM Congressional Breakfast. Depending on travel time and weather, we may have an opportunity to tour several of the surrounding monuments. We have tickets reserved for the Ohio Congressional Breakfast, which will be held at the Marriott Wardman Park Hotel, north of downtown Washington. The breakfast gives Ohioans an opportunity to gather together for a meal and to get motivated for the March. Since all of the Ohio US Senators and Representatives will be invited to the breakfast, you will have an opportunity to meet with them and discuss the issues. The Guest Speaker will be Georgette Forney, National Director of NOEL and the Co-Founder of Silent No More Awareness Campaign. Her passion is helping women find peace after abortion and she has a desire to see young people make positive life choices. * Those making the trip are encouraged to listen to weather reports and dress accordingly. Pack lightly, bring a pillow/blank, bring munchies to eat while traveling and while at the Rally/March. Bring extra spending money for the evening meal. As always, we rely heavily on contributions from individuals and organizations to help defray the cost of this trip. Your past generosity has enabled many students from our area the opportunity to participate in a very powerful pro-life experience. We would like to see a record crowd from this area make the trip, however, if you personally cannot join us, please consider helping someone else go in your place.
2004 ELECTION – WHAT IS AT STAKE??The Presidency: The power to appoint Supreme Court justices & possibly affect the fate of Roe v. Wade; the power to sign or veto federal legislation on pro-life issues; the ability to control federal executive departments and the attitudes on pro-life issues. FACT: NARAL & the Democratic Party are already targeting OhioThe attacks against President Bush are getting ugly. Wealthy liberals plan to skirt campaign laws by giving big bucks to defeat President Bush. *Howard Dean compares President Bush to the Taliban and calls him “the enemy” and “despicable”. *Dick Gephardt calls the president “a miserable failure” and the worst President he’s ever worked with. *John Kerry compared President to Saddam Hussein, called for “regime change” and accused him of fraud. *Joe Lieberman said President Bush is a “segregationist,” compared him to “a felon” and called the Administration “nearly as dangerous” as Iraqi terrorists. *Editors comment: Oh My God!!!! We still have 11 months until the election!!!! Some people are reducing to personal slams on our Pro-life President and outright lies about his record because they hate what he had done for America. President Bush has restored dignity and honor to the White House. We need to keep this President, for his leadership, his values, and his character. After more than a decade and a pair of vetoes from the former Pres. Clinton, the Partial Birth Abortion Ban Act of 2003 was passed by Congress and signed into law by President Bush. The first federal restriction on abortion since Roe v. Wade, it was immediately blocked in court by abortion advocates – amid promises by the Bush Administration to launch a strenuous legal defense. Democrats continue to block President Bush’s court nominees. For the second year, the Liberals have blocked six conservative nominees to the federal bench. President Bush is Pro-Life. He talks the talk, and walks the walk. He’s not afraid to let others know he is pro-life. Now, we need to help him. NOVEMBER – NATIONAL ADOPTION MONTH (I forgot it again!)Adoption is a well-known alternative to abortion, but is not used often. Every year, approximately 1.3 million single women become unexpectedly pregnant. Sadly, less than 2% choose the loving option of adoption, while two million couples eagerly wait to adopt children. The adoption referrals have declined in huge numbers since 1997, however, the numbers for abortion have increased. It’s because the abortion industry makes no money when a woman chooses not to have an abortion. PP latest report shows that they abort 79 babies for every adoption referral it made to an outside agency. Fact: Planned Parenthood is the largest Abortion Mill in the U.S.
As space permits, we will continue to print the ads that we submitted for the Ohio RTL Convention booklet. * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * ** * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *
