MERCER COUNTY BANNER FAIR – A Success Mercer County Right to Life once again sponsored an educational booth during Fair week. Ginny Axe, Pres. Judy Forsthoefel, and VP Marleen Evers decorated the booth. This years theme: “There’s No Place Like Home!” The booth was decorated really neat. Adoption not Abortion was emphasized. Lots of excellent handouts were available, and plenty of balloons for the little ones. Many Thanks to Fowler’s TV for allowing us to use their equipment to play several pro-life DVD’s. Also, members from the newly formed Choosing Life Pregnancy Center had a table set up describing what they offer to those mom’s and little ones in need of their services. Angie Bertke had no problem lining up workers to man the Fair Booth. Many Thanks to those who took the time to help educate the many Fairgoers and to Angie for setting up the workers. Diaper Derby. Much to everyone’s delight, Mercer County Right to Life sponsored the Diaper Derby, on Wednesday, Aug.19th, in the Entertainment Tent. Even though the numbers were down, there were three Heats of three crawlers that participated. Each participant received a Rubber Ducky with the winner of each Heat receiving a Teddy Bear. The Over- All Winner received a musical pull toy along with the Gold Medal. The Main Event was an exciting one. The little guys left the little girl WIN! Kayden Arnold, 10 month daughter of Kristen & Aaron Arnold, Celina was the Grand Champion, while Max Ranly, son of Jesse & Sandra Ranly, Maria Stein and Austin Welling, son of Jim & Candy Welling, Celina came in a close 2nd. Mother Nature was kind enough to wait until all pictures were taken before the rains came down.
PARADES & the RIGHT TO LIFE FLOAT - almost done for another year. Many Thanks to Pat & Henry Timmerman for lining up drivers to pull the float in the various parades this summer. They also store the Float thru the winter months.
SEXUAL EXPOSURE: Something every young person should know before leaving for College or even entering High School - according to C. Everett Koop, M.D., former U.S. Surgeon General, “When you have sex with someone, you are having sex with everyone they have had sex with for the last ten years, and everyone they and their partners have had sex with for the last ten years.” Each time one chooses another partner, one’s chance of contacting a sexually transmitted disease goes up dramatically. Condoms do not provide complete protection from STD’s. Infection can occur in both males and females whether or not a condom is used. The only 100% sure way to avoid exposure to sexually transmitted disease is abstinence.
HEALTHCARE REFORM: Under the proposed Healthcare takeover, virtually every American would be forced into a health plan that mandates abortion coverage. If the Healthcare Reform law does not clearly state that abortion is excluded, abortion automatically becomes a minimum required benefit. Right now in America, the law of the land puts very little value on human life in the womb. The U.S. Supreme Court’s 1973 decisions in Roe v Wade mandates abortion on demand through all nine months of pregnancy for any reason. However, it may get worse! The pro-abortion forces in the U.S. Congress are determined to pass National Health Care reform at any cost. President Obama’s proposed National Health Care plan has two terrifying goals – taxpayer funding for abortions and rationing of medical services for senior citizens. During his campaign, Obama pledged to reduce abortion. At Notre Dame, he spoke of ‘common ground’ on the delicate question of abortion. However, he says one thing and his actions run amok in the opposite direction. Admittedly, there are many unknowns about Obamacare and the takeover of our health care. One thing is indisputable: unless abortion is explicitly ruled out, it will be publicly funded. Six different times during congressional committees, Pro-Life Congressman attempted to get abortion ruled out. All six times they were defeated. Rumors say that a compromise on Healthcare Reform has been met. Don’t believe it! Recent developments provide absolutely no protection for unborn babies and their mothers from abortion or our vulnerable citizens from rationing. WE firmly reject any plan that will facilitate and fund abortion-on-demand or accommodate rationing healthcare services to our elderly, chronically ill or disabled. Just because abortion is not mentioned in these Healthcare Reform proposals, there won’t be an abortion threat? Well – Medicaid was designed to provide healthcare services to the poor, it didn’t mention abortion either, however we were paying for more than 300,000 abortions a year until the Hyde Amendment excluded most abortion coverage. The same thing will happen to Healthcare Reform if abortion isn’t specifically excluded. The abortion death toll will increase dramatically. The only way to protect innocent human life is to specifically exclude abortion and rationing from any Healthcare Reform Bill. We must stay vigilant in our efforts. There is nothing more urgent than stopping mandated abortion in healthcare. The pro-life movement – made up of liberals and conservatives, Democrats and Republicans – are united in an effort to keep abortion and rationing out of any Healthcare Reform. A group called Stop the Abortion Mandate has produced a 2-minute video to alert millions of Americans about the urgent danger to our nation’s unborn and vulnerable citizens. We must tell our elected officials to include language to explicitly exclude abortion from any Healthcare Reform proposal or bill. Everyone is urged to call the Washington office of U.S. Sen. George Voinovich at (202-224-3353) and U.S. Sen. Sherrod Brown at (202-224-2315) and U.S. Rep. John Boehner at (202-225-6205) with one clear message - Keep abortion out of Healthcare! Make the call today. Countless lives are at stake! At last count, 13 of the 18 Ohio Congressmen are voting against taxpayer funding for abortion. We need all 18. Every vote counts!
LIFE LEGAL DEFENSE FUND COULD LOSE LAWSUIT AGAINST PLANNED PARENTHOOD Your Help is needed – NOW. Attorneys at the Life Legal Defense Foundation are suing PP for covering up a statutory rape. The child-rape/abortion cover-up lawsuit involving Planned Parenthood is heating up. It’s a ‘win or lose’ situation that requires every pro-lifer’s utmost help and fervent prayers. Here is what it is all about. PP is being sued for covering-up a statutory rape in Ohio. The rape happened to a 13 yr. old girl who was seduced by her 21 yr. old soccer coach. He got her pregnant. However, before he got caught for the statutory rape, he forced the girl to have an abortion at a local PP mill in order to cover up his crime. PP – in direct violation of Ohio state laws – did not notify the girl’s parents that she was trying to get an abortion, nor did they tell the authorities about this obvious statutory rape. This cover-up is something PP routinely does all around the country. PP has more than 850 facilities throughout the US and they kill approx. 227,375 unborn babies every year. If they were to lose this lawsuit, other victims will probably sue them as well. At some point, they might have to turn over all their records to authorities of abortions performed on underage girls. PP is well aware that if the public finds out about their dirty little secret of child-rape cover-ups – they’d be out of business! PP makes lots of money off their abortion and contraception business. In addition to private contributions and government grants and contracts, they even get taxpayer money from the US government. YES, PP is very worried about losing this lawsuit. They are prepared to spend whatever it takes to fight this lawsuit, with millions $$ at their disposal. The pro-life defense team severely lacks money. PP is trying to bury them in costly legal procedures, to wear them down and exhaust their funds. Right now, the Legal Defense team is at a critical juncture in the trial. The judge has been favorable to our side and has denied all of PP’s motions to kill the case. If the legal defense can’t come up with Big Bucks soon, they won’t be able to proceed with the lawsuit. That is exactly what PP is counting on. We can’t let that happen!!!
